The best practices I have found are the ones that are targeted to your self-awareness. I find it very challenging to retarget the habits of someone that has already done what I have done, so I find I take it one step further and start retargeting my own habits.
So I was talking with a friend earlier this year about my obsession with the “Google Glass” phenomenon. My friend is one of the few people in his community who has actually had a pair of the gadgets. He was quite surprised that I was so obsessed with it. He told me that he has used it in his job (he is a police officer) and that he has never gotten much use for it.
We can’t ignore the fact that you have to be a very smart person to make a great living in this business, but that doesn’t mean you should stop dreaming of one day having that awesome Google Glass. It may be a different experience than a regular pair of goggles, but it’s still getting you in the front door faster and using less energy.
Google Glass is a new and very cool product, and has been a very popular topic of conversation for a long time. While I think that Google Glass is the most exciting thing out there right now, it is probably one of the most complex things to make use of. For example, you need to have the latest version of Flash Player installed on your computer, and you need to be able to create customized web pages with a lot of options on them.
My recommendation is to use the “best practice” trick I mentioned above. If you want to retarget your visitors to a specific URL or page, you can use the Google Webmaster Tools to create a new web page and link it to a specific URL or page. And that’s the way your page will appear in search results. If you have multiple URLs with the same name, you can use “best practices” to retarget to different pages for each one.
The above best practice example applies to linking to pages as well, so you can also use best practices to retarget your visitors to different pages. And you can always re-target to different locations with other best practices.
For example, you can use the same Google Webmaster Tools account to retarget to different pages, or you can use the same account to retarget to a different location.
Google’s approach to this is to treat retargeting sites as a single site for purposes of optimizing each page. This means that if you want to optimize for “Page A,” you don’t optimize for “Page A-1.” Instead, you optimize for Page A, Page A-1, Page A-2, Page A-3, … Page A-x, and Page A.
Well, it is a bit of a weird thing to optimize for, we can say we optimize for the best practices of a particular website, but in fact the best practices of a particular website are optimized for the best practices of that particular website too. That is, you optimize for the best practices on the website because that is the website that you want to work on, and not vice versa.
In other words, we should optimize for Page A and optimize for Page A-1, Page A-2, Page A-3, Page A-x, and Page A, and optimize for the best practices of those pages because once you optimize for Page A-x, you can optimize for Pages A-2, A-3, A-x, and A.
