I am a big fan of Yelp, and the people who take my order every now and then. I love the fact that Yelp is so user-friendly, and the service is always available 24/7. But the one thing they often miss is the damage they get from reviews. It’s not just the negative reviews, but the ones that call you a “dumbass.
That’s why the Yelp app has a “reviews” feature. But this particular feature was actually a bit dumb. Yelp allows you to rate some of your favorite restaurants, but doesn’t allow you to rate restaurants that have Yelp reviews. So for instance my favorite restaurant has a 1 star rating, but because I haven’t actually checked Yelp I’ll keep it to the number 1 star rating.
My friend works at Yelp and he told me that most of the reviews that they get are actually negative reviews. But when someone writes a negative review, it doesnt usually matter which restaurant it is. Yelp will just say that they have no control over the bad reviews, while the real problem lies with the fact that Yelp wasnt really designed with positive reviews in mind.
The reason this trailer does not actually give us the first clue is because it’s not even showing us anything. Every single person posting a bad review is saying, “that’s one of the reasons I was so surprised by this trailer, but don’t you think that the content is also bad?”.
Yelp is designed so that users can rate their experience on a scale of 1-10. If you have a negative experience, Yelp will rate it a 1. If you have a positive experience, Yelp will rate it a 10. As it turns out, the best review is the one you can actually show to the user. And that is really what Yelp is trying to do here. Showing you a positive review that does not reflect anything bad in the content.
We thought Yelp was doing a good job of showing you a good experience, but it seems to be doing a bad job of showing you a bad experience. I guess Yelp thinks that users who rate things a 10 will be able to tell the game’s developers what they think about the game. But the developers don’t seem to be thinking this way. We did not experience any user feedback at all.

I know what we would hear if something bad happened to us. I would hear, “yelp is just a crappy service.” But I also know that some users want Yelp to be a decent service. I can tell you for sure that Yelp isnt a very good service, and I can assure you that there is nothing bad about Yelp. It would be the same if Yelp sent us an update.

Yelp is awesome. They are, as I’ve said, great at aggregating information so you can find things quickly and efficiently, but the problems start with the name. Yelp is the name of their product, but the name of their product is not the title of their website. The title of their website is the name of their website. If Yelp wanted to do the same thing they do with their product, they would have called it the “Yelp Community.
